Shivam , a shy child was weak in communicating with others. He would fall short of words while speaking to anyone. He loved the company of people but always stayed in his own world . This would create a barrier for him to jump into any kind of conversations. He could not contribute to the subject as he would not have paid attention to any of the ongoing dialogues.
But Shivam was a gifted child . God had blessed him with a musical skills. He could reproduce any musical note on the toy piano that his parents had bought for him. He would listen to a tune and his fingers would recreate the tune on the instrument. His parents finally relieved that their boy had shown some inclination got home the synthesizer. He was also enrolled with a tutor to develop his inborn abilities . The tutor soon realized that Shivam was the fastest learner amongst all his students.
Shivam's parents were on top of the world. They now wanted him to play the instrument confidently in public. Their sole motive behind this was to boost his self esteem. But Shivam being shy, stayed away from showing his skills in public. He liked the comfort zone of being reclusive where he was not viewed, judged or criticized.
After much prodding and encouraging for 1 or 2 years, his family gave up and let him be. They decided to wait and watch. They knew he had to leave the comfort zone on his own.
And One fine day, Shivam did ............
His mother would leave no stone unturned to get him out of the cocoon he had engulfed himself into. She enrolled Shivam to a child orchestra through an audition. The fun-filled, accomodating atmosphere of the group helped him to mix with his peers. Each one of the group connected to the other through music. For Shivam there could be some connection beyond words. His music spoke for him. His mentors from the group guided him the whole year and they all set up a wonderful performance at the end of it.
This was Shivam's first appearance in public and on a big scale. Needless to mention the group rocked on stage. Thereafter there was no looking back. He ventured out, did music shows and the world showered praises on him. Shivam revelled in the confidence boosting appaulause.
The comfort zone was finally left behind.
The duckling had realised that he was indeed a swan.
